Remote

When the finale of her favorite show is interrupted by a wormhole whisking away her TV remote, college student Ruby descends into a void full of discarded and cast-off technology to retrieve it. Along the way she finds another unlucky soul who has been trapped there for decades in a fruitless search.

Remote includes a sequence utilizing in-camera virtual production, a filmmaking technique where real actors are filmed on set while immersive 3D environments displayed on LED walls are captured directly by the camera as the final shot. This sequence was shot in the VITAL studio on the 3rd floor of Dalton. This is the first film to feature virtual production in WMU's history.

Additionally, this film was made in collaboration with the WMU Physics department. Production took place in the Tandem Van de Graaff Accelerator, a fully functional electrostatic particle accelerator originally installed in 1969.

I was the co-producer and assistant director for Remote. Check out the film Instagram page for more details.
